2015 In Review

2015 was a fantastic year for fundraising and for me personally as an author.

We held our 7th annual golf tournament in August. Funds raised at the first five went to Plan Canada to help with various projects in Africa, You can read more about those projects in the Events section. We changed focus for the golf tournament to Wounded Warriors Canada in 2014 because we felt there was a real need to help our Vets and because we think the program we are raising money for is really helping our wounded soldiers. This year we raised $3400, which will go towards Wounded Warriors’ investment in the service dog program to help soldiers suffering with PTSD.

We held our 5th Annual Education for Africa Variety Show in October and raised $3365 for Plan Canada to go towards a much-needed sanitation project in Tanzania. With federal government matching, it becomes $30,285!!

We would like to thank everyone involved for helping us to reach our fundraising goals and then some.

I was very happy to be invited to take part in the Gananoque Literary Festival in May. I shared the stage with the likes of Peter C. Newman and Terry Fallis and it was a big thrill. I never dreamed that my writing would give me that opportunity but there it was. It was an honour to participate.

There were a number of book signings and events throughout the year but it was topped off in December when my humorous travel memoir, I Guess We Missed the Boat, became a Bestseller in a few travel related categories on Amazon Kindle.

So what about 2016? We have more fundraising planned. We can’t stop now! I plan to issue a newsletter early in the new year, which will feature two chapters of my new book, tentatively called “A Perilous Decision.” The book is scheduled to be released in May.

Thank you to everyone for your interest! None of it would be possible without you. Happy New Year! I hope 2016 is your best year yet.
