2019 Canada Army Run

I’m delighted to be participating in this year’s 5K Army Run on September 22. I use the word “participate” because I’m no runner. Golf is more my speed now, but I’m inspired enough by the vets and soldiers I’ve met to do what I can to help.

My wife Evelyn and I organized golf tournaments for five years to raise money for Wounded Warriors. We were proud to do so, but we were always amazed at how the vets we had as guest speakers were so generous with their gratitude towards us. They are the ones who should be thanked. We were just doing our bit.

Since we decided to take a break from organizing events and since this is the 10th anniversary of my climb of Kilimanjaro with my son Chris, the Army Run seemed like a unique challenge. Then this morning, this video showed up on Facebook. It’s a stark reminder why it’s worth huffing and puffing for 5 kilometers early on a Sunday morning. Take a couple of minutes to watch. It’s well worth your time.
